Welcome to my Master's Portfolio Project! The purpose of this portfolio is to highlight the four focus areas that compose the Master's Portfolio. These items include leadership, teaching all students, knowing and using research, and pedagogical content knowledge. In addition, you will find the graduate coursework and my personal resume.
As you may have noticed, the majority of the website is used for my current classroom. In my first year of teaching, it wasn't utilized as much as I hoped but I have high goals for the future! We did use the site for projects as an easy way to access research links. Having a class website is a perfect way for students and parents to access homework and see what's happening in the classroom.
While it was challenging to narrow down what to include in each section, I picked items that I thought best described my experiences that have molded me into the person I am today as well as completing the Master's Portfolio. Listed below is a preview of what you'll find in each section.
Resume & Introduction - learn a bit more about myself, personally and professionally, and my experiences throughout the Master's program.
Leadership - I've highlighted my first year of teaching, where I learned more than I could ever imagine, and my time as a member of PDS at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School.
Teaching All Students - two of my favorite projects completed this school year, the GRAPES of ME and the Ancient Rome Extravaganza, are explained in detail. These projects truly related to all students and gave students a choice on how to present their knowledge gained.
Research - included is the Action Research Presentation completed during my time with the PDS program, titled "The Impact of Advisory on the Community of Teachers, Staff, and Students at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School." In conjunction with the student internship, I conducted research with a cohort of student interns to assess a school improvement plan.
Pedagogical Content Knowledge - at the conclusion of my portfolio, you'll find information about my experience with the KU Math & Science Center. I've displayed my work with the Jerry Bailey Educational Opportunity Scholarship Selection Committee and my lessons for the four-week government course with the Summer Institute. Additionally, you'll see two position papers that relate to writing and citizenship; both of which correlate to the scholarship committee and the government course.
